Incredible Treasure Hunt
Saturday, June 6th, 2008 at 9:00am
The City of Indianapolis
The Plans are now in place for what promises to be one of the most exciting events to ever take place in Indianapolis. The Forest Manor Multi Service Center (FMMSC) will be holding the Incredible Treasure Hunt on June 7, 2008. Teams of four will race through the city uncovering clues and getting a chance to enjoy some of the treasures of the city. This is a fundraising activity that will give participants/explorers an opportunity to have fun, bond together and discover new outlets for adventure and fun with family and friends, right here in Indianapolis. FMMSC exists to empower and enhance the lives of our neighbors, primarily in the Northeast area, by providing individuals and families with services that enable them an opportunity to become self-sufficient. For over 30 years we have been an integral part of the Forest Manor neighborhood and are highly regarded by residents as a first point of contact in crisis situations to receive emergency assistance and intervention programs, enhanced mental and physical well-being initiatives, opportunities for personal enrichment or general information on issues of importance. Our goal is to continue to raise money to fund our important work. The community at large benefits from the dedication and passion of the volunteers and staff of the center. Putting on an event of this magnitude is no small feat, and it can be even more difficult without sufficient backing. We are inviting any group, organization, or business to also be a financial support in this great endeavor. All contributions will help to ensure the success of Forest Manor’s programs as well as show much needed community support. The Incredible Treasure Hunt (ITH) promises to be a premier event for the City of Indianapolis. Please don’t hesitate to contact us for participation and/donation. We look forward to a successful Inaugural Year! Click here for more information.

Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation: Walk to Cure Diabetes
Saturday, October 18, 2008 at 9:00 a.m.
Military Park, Downtown Indianapolis
The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation’s (JDRF) Walk to Cure Diabetes is one of the fastest growing fundraising events in the world. Each year, over 500,000 people “Walk for a Cure” at 200 JDRF Walk locations in over a dozen countries. Funds are raised by individual and team walkers obtaining donations from family, friends, co-workers and neighbors. Monies are also raised through corporate sponsorship and the sale of JDRF paper sneakers at retail outlets. Last year, over $100 million was raised worldwide for diabetes research education through JDRF’s Walk program. In 2007, the Central Indiana Walk in Indianapolis welcomed over 3,300 walkers and raised over $900,000 to help find a cure for diabetes. This year’s goal is to raise $950,000. Event Schedule: 9:00 a.m.- 10:30 a.m.: Registration, food and activities 10:00 a.m.-10:30 a.m.: Opening Ceremony 10:30 a.m.-Official Walk Start 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. Picnic lunch with family & friends, music, games and more! Event Details: Registration will begin at 9:00 with snacks and refreshments being served prior to the Walk. We will have two walk routes this year. One will be a 2-mile walk and the other option will be a 5k walk or run. Free Food and Entertainment begins at 9 a.m.. Entertainment will include live music, Colts & Pacers cheerleaders, face painting, Ronald McDonald and much more! Registration Information: To register for the JDRF Walk as either a Team Captain or team walker, please visit www.jdrf.org and click on the “Walk to Cure Diabetes” sneaker link in the middle of the page. It will take you to the Walk registration page. Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation: JDRF funding and leadership is associated with most major scientific breakthroughs in type 1 diabetes research. In fact, JDRF funds the majority of all type 1 research-more than any other nonprofit, nongovernmental agency worldwide. JDRF has provided over $1 billion in direct funding since its inception in 1970. More than 85% of JDRF’s expenditures directly support research and research-related education. Because of our unwavering focus on our mission to find a cure for diabetes, JDRF has consistently maintained top reputation among the nation’s leading independent experts on charitable giving. JDRF funds research with the greatest impact, leading to results as soon as possible. But we aren’t there yet and relatively few people are aware of the prevalence, seriousness, and costliness of this disease. At home, children with diabetes face a lifetime of blood tests, restrictive diets and multiple daily injections of insulin to survive. They will not outgrow this disease. The only remedy is a cure! For More Information: Please contact Stacey Kubal or Liz Ries at JDRF: 317-469-9604 or via email at skubal@jdrf.org or eries@jdrf.org. |
